Proof of the language of the missing life insurance policies may be supplied by policy forms in use by the insurance industry during the relevant period. Liability policies are almost always preprinted forms containing standardized language. The language on these forms is drafted by insurance industry trade associations to be used by all of the association's members. Therefore, a policyholder may prove the language of a missing policy by submitting a standard-form policy used by members of the trade association of which the insurance company was a member at the relevant time.
